Enteric Fever

That enteric fever is prevalent in India, especially among those who have recently changed their residence from England to this country, is a well-recognized fact, yet here, as well as at home, a variety of opinions are held as to the causation and propagation of the disease. <Ve have the great contagionist, "William Badd, asserting that enteric fever arises solely from the discharges of persons Previously ill of that disease. Then again Dr. Murchison teaches that the decomposition of organic but chiefly fa;cal Matter is the essential origin of the fever; while Dr. Harley and a great number of American and Continental physicians o d (though not denying the existence of the other two causes) at the decomposition of organic but principally vegetable fatter is the chief cause of the vast majority of the enteric ever cases met with in practice.
